Lamar Odom's friends and family are reportedly growing more concerned about his well-being after his second close and longtime friend died of an apparent drug overdose in less than a week.

RadarOnline reports only days after the death of Jamie Sangouthai, the body of 30-year-old Hollywood producer Bobby Heyward was discovered on Saturday and investigators are convinced drugs again played a role in the tragedy.

"Everyone in Lamar's group of friends is devastated right now," a source told Radar. "Lamar has been going down a bad path for a while now, and this could push him over the edge."

And the 35-year-old former NBA star seems to taking news of all the tragedy quite hard. Even before word of Heyward's tragedy broke, Radar previously reported Odom was seen downing shots of vodka and popping Xanax pills while flying from L.A. to Vegas last Monday.

In time, others close to Khloe Kardashian's estranged husband are hoping him experiencing all this tragedy up close and personal might have a calming effect on him.

"Maybe it will wake him up and help him get back on his feet," said the source. "We can only hope."

Last week, the Los Angeles Coroner office announced Sangouthai died of a bacterial skin infection caused by intravenous drug use. Odom is expected to be in attendance at a New York City memorial service held for him Monday night.

According to the New York Daily News, in the days after Sangouthai's death, Heyward took to Instagram to post an emotional and heartfelt tribute to his friend alongside a photo of the two of them, Odom and another unidentified man.

"#RIP To my big brother Jamie who always brought light into any room he walked into and laughter as well at all times J you will always be missed," he wrote. "Family for life. #BandOfBrothers #tbt."
