Ronda Rousey Next Fight: ‘Rowdy’ Vows To Make Bethe Correia Pay for Disrespectful Remarks
Ultimate Fighting Championship women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is motivated to dominate Bethe Correia in their upcoming title fight at UFC 190 on Aug. 1 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Rousey, who holds a perfect 11-0 record in the UFC, vowed to make Correia pay for her disrespectful remarks by making her feel the pain inside the Octagon.
Rousey needed a combined 30 seconds in her last two victories against Alexis Davis in July last year and Cat Zingano in February, but the 28-year-old said that she will not let her next fight end quickly because she wants to inflict damage to Correia on fight night.
"@BetheCorreia, your disrespect to my father, family and friends is not forgotten. I am your comeuppance. And this will not be over quickly. I will make sure you feel every moment of the lesson I'm going to teach you," Rousey wrote on Instagram.
Rousey and Correia have been trading barbs since their fight was announced, but the challenger went below the belt unexpectedly in an interview with Combate.
"Rousey doesn't have a good mind-set, she needs to get help," Correia said on May 27. "There are a lot of people around her, because she is winning, when she realizes she is not all that, I don't even know what could happen. I hope she doesn't commit suicide."
The word "suicide" earned the ire of Rousey because of the fact that her father committed suicide. Rousey took to Twitter to respond and wrote: "@bethecorreia suicide is no joke or selling point. My father will be with me the day I hand you the comeuppance you deserve."
Correia responded to Rousey and asked for forgiveness. The 32-year-old said she made the statement unaware that Rousey's father committed suicide.
"@RondaRousey Never knew what happened to ur dad. I'm humble enough to ask u for forgiveness. Family is a godly bless to me. See u in #UFC190," wrote Correia, who got no response from Rousey.
