‘Game of Thrones’ Star Kit Harington Joins the Cast of ‘Brimstone’
Fans of the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones" were heartbroken to see Kit Harington's character get killed off last season on the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
But one of "Game of Thrones'" biggest themes has always been that no one is safe, which has led to the shocking deaths of both good and bad characters.
But now, Harington has signed on to a new project that features co-stars Dakota Fanning and Guy Pearce. The film, "Brimstone," was originally slated to feature "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson. But the star backed out leaving a gaping hole for film's crucial character.
Harington's new character will be an outlaw in the film. He is a crucial character to the plot of the film, and he will be joined on the big-screen by his "Game of Thrones" co-star Carice van Houten ("Valkyire").
The movie stars Fanning as the film's heroine. She is on the run, trying to flee her past. But she is also being stalked by an evil Preacher portrayed by Pearce. The cast changes have also involved Fanning's character as well. She was originally slated to be portrayed by Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland," "In Treatment").
Other additions to the cast include Paul Anderson ("Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows"), Jack Roth ("The Great Train Robbery") and Carla Juri ("Wetlands").
"Brimstone" has been written and directed by Dutch filmmaker Martin Koolhoven. Koolhoven was also behind the hit Dutch film "Winter in Wartime," which was greeted with a moderate amount of box-office success.
"A triumphant epic of survival and a tale of powerful womanhood and resistance against the unforgiving cruelty of a hell on earth," the plot stated, according "Brimstone's" official website. Our heroine is Liz (Dakota Fanning), carved from the beautiful wilderness, full of heart and grit, hunted by a vengeful Preacher (Guy Pearce) -- a diabolical zealot and her twisted nemesis. But Liz is a genuine survivor; she's no victim - a woman of fearsome strength who responds with astonishing bravery to claim the better life she and her daughter deserve."
