While fans of "Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain" are thrilled to know that the game is confirmed to come out in September, rumors of in-game purchases have dampened the mood.

Recently, Konami has confirmed that the upcoming title will have micro-transactions, much to the disappointment of many followers of the franchise.

The announcement was made during the 40-minute gameplay demo that Konami released for the game.

While the existence of micro-transactions have made many fans of "Metal Gear Solid" reluctant to try the game, the publisher was quick to defend its purpose for adding in-game purchases.

According to Konami, although micro-transactions exist, it will not provide a "pay to win option" for the players who might have thought of cheating their way in succeeding in the game.

It added that all weapons, missions and other items that players need to enjoy the game to its full capacity are free and will not cost anything. Players can take advantage of the "Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain" to its full potential without shelling out a single cent.

But while Konami made it clear that gamers can play the game without buying anything, the publisher also explained that micro-transactions have been included with players who do not have enough time to spare for the game in mind.

"However, due to the sheer scale of the game and the time required to explore it all, micro-transactions were added as a completely optional feature for players who might not be able to spend as much time with the game, nothing more, nothing less," stated Konami.

This statement has led many to question the publisher's intent in saying that the in-game purchases were not added as a "pay to win option" when the micro-transactions will allow players to move up to the next level with simply buying their way out.

While many have already expressed their frustration over this new feature, it seems that many fans are still willing to shell out $60 to see the game that is said to be Hideo Kojima's final work with Konami.

Reports that the renowned developer is leaving came about in March when the series creator's name as well as the title of his studio, Kojima Productions, have been removed in most of the game's media listings.

Konami released a statement that assured fans the upcoming title will still push through in September and to inform that Kojima will still be working on the title.

"Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain" will be available to the PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on September 1.
