Donald Trump Claims Neil Young is a ‘Hypocrite’ Who Asked Him For Money
It is no secret that Donald Trump has officially entered the race for the Republican nomination for President of the United Sates. But what was so revealing about his announcement was that he entered the stage by traveling down an escalator that had "Rocking in the Free World" by Neil Young playing over the loud speaker, according to an article on The Huffington Post.
Not only did he play it upon his entrance, but he also played it during his speech where he directed the music from a start, to a throat-cutting finish.
But this was also done without the consent of the aging rocker, who released the hit song in 1989. As a matter of fact, Young has publicly endorsed the Bernie Sanders campaign and he was infuriated when Trump used his own music to lend credence to his own campaign launch.
Trump has since announced that he will no longer be using the song as his campaign music, but he has also fired back at the rocker, calling him a hypocrite on Twitter.
He claims that Young was recently in his office asking for money. But on June 17, Young wrote on his own Facebook page that he was trying to raise money for his Pono music service.
"A picture of me with this candidate was also circulated in conjunction with this announcement, but It was a photograph taken during a meeting when I was trying to raise funds for Pono, my online high resolution music service," Young wrote in the post.
Young, who is a Canadian and doesn't vote in American elections, still does not endorse anything about the Trump campaign, as he further elaborated in the post. He is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination, who is an Independent senator from Vermont.
"I do not trust self serving misinformation coming from corporations and their media trolls. I do not trust politicians who are taking millions from those corporations either," Young wrote on his Facebook post. "I trust people. So I make my music for people not for candidates."
