‘Scream’ TV Series Releases Remake of Iconic Opening Scene [Watch]
The new series coming to MTV, "Scream," is based on the 1996 film by Wes Craven that starred Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich, Matthew Lillard ("Scooby Doo"), David Arquette, Courtney Cox ("Friends") and Rose McGowan ("Charmed"). But, according to Deadline, it was the opening scene that featured the brutal death of Drew Barrymore's character on the show that really drew fans into the movie.
The scene referenced is when Casey (Barrymore) answered the phone in the opening of the film. She was coddled and sweetened by the creepy caller until the rhetoric turned into a deadly game of cat and mouse, which ended in her dramatic death just a few feet away from her unsuspecting parents.

This scene has been updated to reflect modern technology, with the use of data and video transfers via cell phones. The remake of the scene has been handled with a new lineup and the killer features a different look than the iconic "Ghostface" mask worn by the killer in the horror franchise that saw three sequels, all of which featured Campbell, Cox and Arquette.
Bella Thorne is the actress who will only get 8 minutes of airtime on the series, much like Barrymore did in the film that still holds an iconic status.

The new TV series is slated to premiere on MTV at the end of this month as an official summer series. The June 30 debut will air at 10 p.m. EDT on the cable network.
The series will feature the ongoing pursuits of the killer with his updated mask that seems to be fueled by the aftermath of a cyber-bully incident. It also follows a past killing spree that almost seems to be copycatting the original.
The cast will feature the acting talents of Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna, Willa Fitzgerald, Jason Wiles, Carlson Young, Amadeus Serafini and Connor Wile.
