Forbes Names Jennifer Lopez, Bruno Mars, Floyd Mayweather, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Jay Z and More in ‘Celebrity 100: The World’s Top-Paid Entertainers’
Forbes magazine has announced its "Celebrity 100: The World's Top-Paid Entertainers" list of 2015. The annual list measures the earnings of the highest-paid entertainers on earth over the past 12 months.
Welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather earned the number one spot with his $300 million payday -- the highest annual sum ever for an athlete. Most of Mayweather's earnings come from his May 2 victory over professional boxer Manny Pacquiao, who takes the No. 2 position on the list.
Third place on the list goes to entertainer Katy Perry, the subject of Forbes' 2015 Celebrity 100 cover story, who earned a remarkable $135 million. Her Prismatic World Tour included 124 shows during the Forbes scoring period -- 75 of which happened abroad, in 27 different countries. According to Forbes, 60 percent of her income comes from foreign markets.
One Direction seized the No. 4 spot, earning $130 million over the past 12 months. The world's most lucrative boy band performed 74 dates over the past 12 months, averaging seven-figure grosses at every location. The group played on every continent except Antarctica. The four member group earned more than twice as much as the Rolling Stones, according to Forbes.
It may surprise many to learn that shock jock Howard Stern seized the No. 5 spot, earning $95 million. The 61-year-old earns most of his wealth through radio programs.
Taylor Swift and Robert Downey Jr. tied for No. 8. Swift's best-selling album "1989" moved 3.7 million units in 2014, while Downey, Jr. earned double-digit millions for playing Iron Man.
When it comes to hip-hop and rap stars, Diddy ranks at No. 21, earning $60 million. Jay Z ranks No. 28, earning $56 million, while wife Beyoncé ranks at No. 29 with $54.5 million. Drake ranks at No. 54, earning $39.5 million. Pharrell Williams is likely "Happy" with his No. 78 ranking, having earning $32 million.
Notable Latino entertainers on the list are Bruno Mars who ranked No. 52 by earning $40 million, and Jennifer Lopez ranking at No. 95 having earned $28.5 million.
