'The Last Of Us' Release Date & Rumors: Voice Actor Confirms Sequel To Naughty Dog's Title Is In Development
Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us" title has been a huge success that many fans of the video game are already looking forward to see the next iteration. While the studio has yet to make an announcement regarding a sequel, a voice actor has seemingly spilled the beans on the project and mentioned that it is already in development.
Nolan North is known for being the voice behind Nathan Drake, the lead character in Naughty Dog's Uncharted series. He was part of the Q&A panel at the recent MetroCon when he casually dropped the bomb on "The Last of Us 2."
Apart from the Uncharted series, North also had a small part in "The Last of Us." A fan asked him if he is still working in any other projects with the studio when he answered in the negative and hinted of the sequel.
"For now, Uncharted 4 is the last one," answered the voice actor. "I know they're doing The Last of Us, but my character in The Last of Us kind of met an untimely demise."
Meanwhile, another voice actor from the video game, Troy Baker, was clueless when asked about the sequel.
Baker played one of the leading characters in the title and was at the Indy PopCon when he revealed that he has no idea about the plans for "The Last of Us 2."
"Okay, so I'm... And by the way I know nothing," the actor said. "I don't know if we're gonna do another one or not. If we do, then I trust Neil [Druckmann] and Bruce [Straley] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told."
Reports that a part two of the popular title is in development began swirling as early as 2013. However, the studio has not confirmed any of these rumors.
In February, creative director Neil Druckmann took part in a Reddit AMA where he hinted of the possibility of another "The Last of Us."
But the director mentioned that the chances are "50/50" since he and game director Bruce Straley are busy working with "Uncharted 4," which happens to be one of the biggest titles under Naughty Dog.
Druckmann also told Game Informer that the people behind "The Last of Us" have already listed ideas for a sequel.
"We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we've brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4," revealed the creative director.
With all the studio's efforts placed on the last story of Nathan Drake, it seems that a sequel to "The Last of Us" is still a long way off.
