Two veteran NBA champions will bring their talents to young west coast teams. Washington Wizards small forward Paul Pierce and Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler have been reported to secure fresh contracts before the NBA season begins.

Champs reunite

The Washington Wizards approached Pierce with a $6.6 million offer for next season along with a team option for the second year, noted ESPN. In his one year stint with the Wizards' young stars John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Otto Porter Jr., he repeatedly attested to the bright future the franchise has.

Armed with his veteran wisdom and clutch gene, Pierce became the natural leader for the Wiz in the postseason. However, the offer was not enough to keep him in the team. Instead, as stated in the ESPN report, the future Hall of Famer chose to bring his talents to the LA Clippers, coached by Doc Rivers - the coach he played for when he was part of the Boston Celtics, which won the 2008 NBA Championship.

It is a homecoming of sorts for the 6'7" forward, who grew up in Los Angeles attending Inglewood High School.

All-Star vet signs with Phoenix

Elite big man Tyson Chandler agreed to a four-year deal with Phoenix Suns that will bring him a contract price of $52 million, a source told ESPN.

The sources chose to remain anonymous as deal information cannot be disclosed publicly until the free agency moratorium is lifted on the 9th of July.

After spending a year with the team he won the NBA Championship with, Chandler has now decided to bring his talents to a young team where his wisdom and skill can impress substantial impact. He was approached by the LA Clippers for a potential contract if the rumors that center DeAndre Jordan will go to the Mavericks will come to fruition.

However, because of the developments in free agency, Chandler is now helping the Suns in getting coveted free agent and power forward LaMarcus Aldridge to sign with the Arizona team. Aldridge was reported to demand that he not be forced to play the center position. Chandler's presence in the meeting cements that promise from Phoenix's end.

Yahoo NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski wrote in a tweet that Aldridge is seriously considering the Suns, after a closed-door meeting that involved contract discussions and basketball matters. Aldridge met with the Lakers and the Rockets the night before free agency, and then met with the staff of the San Antonio Spurs. The forward is said to continue seeing east coast teams Toronto and New York. He is expected to make a decision anytime soon.
