Demi Lovato is definitely not "cool" with people claiming her summer-themed single sounds like a Katy Perry or Jessie J song.

When "Cool for the Summer" was released on July 1, many fans and critics claimed it sounded like pop stars Katy Perry's hit "I Kissed a Girl" and British singer Jessie J's "Domino," reports Billboard.

"With all the advances we've made in the LGBT community, I think more than one female artist can kiss a girl and like it," tweeted the star in response to Entertainment Tonight's tweet.

Regardless of critics, Lovato has been nothing but ecstatic about her latest single, promoting it on her social media accounts and thanking fans for its success. The single quickly took the number one spot on iTunes and was number 1 in Brazil only half an hour after its release in the country.

The star celebrated the release of her song, which is Time calls "infectious" and a contender for "song of the summer," with a pool party. According to MTV, the song is just a taste of whats to come from the 22-year-old singer.

"For this album, I'm making music that feels right to me," Lovato told MTV. "This time around, I was able to explore different sounds, and hone in on something that I'm really proud of."

As for what inspired her album, Lovato shared that she's inspired everyday, but also has a list of people who inspire her and she would love to collaborate with.

On the list, along with "Idol" alum and a personal idol of Lovato, are Kelly Clarkson, Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, who Lovato is scheduled to be a bridesmaid for in her upcoming wedding to basketball player Nick Young.

"I would love to collaborate with Iggy," said Lovato. "Not only is she a good friend of mine, but she's also incredibly talented."
