Selena Gomez has been having nothing but good luck with the release of her latest single, "Good For You."

The track, which features a verse from rapper A$AP Rocky, has placed Gomez at the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Digital Songs chart. This makes the song the highest ranking debut for the star since her song "Come and Get It."

The song, since its release last week, has been making waves for its sultry sound, a direction Gomez started with her previous release "The Heart Wants What It Wants."

The Latina released a more stripped-down version of the track to accompany the music video, which has made headlines for its mature look. The singer lies around seductively and takes a shower while she sings about wanting to please and look good.

"Baby, let me be good to you, good to you, uh-huh, let me show you how proud I am to be yours, leave this dress a mess on the floor," she sings.

In a behind-the-scenes video, the 22-year-old explained the concept behind the video and song, which she considers part of her upcoming "transition album" and her most personal work yet.

"I wanted to play up the masculine vibe of what I mean by being good for you," Gomez said. "I feel like the way I performed it, the way the story kind of unfolds ... it's my story. It's how a woman feels when they wake up in the morning. When their hair is wet. When they're in a white T-shirt. Things that make women feel sexy and beautiful."

While many may take the song to simply be about wanting to look good for someone else, songwriter Justin Tranter, who worked on the song with Gomez, defends the song and states otherwise.

"It's not about ownership, it's not about being less than," Tranter said. "It's that you think they're so awesome that you want to be sexy for them."

The music video, which does not feature A$AP Rocky, has garnered 17 million views so far on YouTube.
