iPhone 6 Release Date, Rumors, & Features 2014: Apple Likely To Increase iPhone Size, But By How Much?
Manufacturers of Apple's mobile phones are gearing up to release a version which is said to be larger than a person's face.
Apple has kept screens pretty much the same size since the introduction of the first and original iPhone, which featured a 3.5-inch diagonal screen. They boosted resolutions along the evolution of the product line, most recently with retina display which jammed more pixels into the same sized display. Then in 2012 they added an extra bit of screen real estate with the iPhone 5.
So what has changed now? As it turns out, along the way the smartphone competition has heated up with the Android-based devices posing a huge threat in competition to the iPhone manufacturer. Those larger screens are popular for the simple reason that it is better suited for photos, video and gaming. Since Apple phones get faster connection with streaming videos, which is becoming increasingly desired, a larger screen iPhone will even the score.
Rumour says that the iPhone 6 release will come out with a 4.5-inch and 5.5-inch screen, which will put Apple in the same league as the competition. They will also throw in thinner designs and change up some of the functionality such as upgrading the camera pixels, be it rear or front camera. These changes are typical Apple nowadays, which makes minor tweaks to the internal processor, enabling it to have faster performance compared to the previous versions of the iPhone series.
With the larger phones we can also expect an increase in prices, meaning the old pattern will remain the same. We have witnessed in the past that even the previous versions of the Apple mobile phone remain relatively expensive compared to the Android phones. All the same, the Apple mobile phone manufacturers intend to use this hardware strategy to break the stiff competition against Google Nexus, Samsung Galaxy S4, Alcatel, LG, and other mobile platforms with large screens.
