J.K. Rowling gives new information on Gilderoy Lockhart, one of Harry Potter's most flamboyant characters.

These clips are being revealed today at A Celebration of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida and will be released on Pottermore.com soon, says The Guardian UK.

J.K. Rowling treated fans to tidbits as Lockhart's birthday was January 26 as a treat, recorded three short audio clips for Pottermore.com - the digital platform to join in and experience the Harry Potter stories and the world described within them.

Fans will learn more about the colorful background of Lockhart including the family background, a failed business idea and where the Sorting Hat nearly put him during his time at Hogwarts.

Recalling Lockhart's infamous line in the series, "Celebrity is as celebrity does," the audio is fun to listen to. You can her Rowling's mischievousness and sense of humor as well as her fondness for having a laugh at the excesses of celebrity, with echoes of today's celebrity endorsement culture.

In the series, Professor Gilderoy Lockhart was a half-blood wizrd who studied in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a Ravenclaw student. Prior to becoming the professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts, Gilderoy was a celebrity and noted author from documenting his defeat of various dangerous dark creatures he encountered. He received a number of honors and prestigious awards for his accomplishments.

During the course of the story, it's found that Lockhart is a fraud and never actually did all the heroic acts he has claimed. Instead, he's been using memory charms to make the wizards who had done the acts tell him how it's done and made them forget what they did.

In an ironic turn of events, Lockhart lost his memory when his favorite memory charm backfired because he used Ronald Weasley's damaged wand.
