Grammy Awards 2014 News: Miley Cyrus Ditches the Grammys for Guitar Hero
While all her musical friends were at Sunday night's (Jan. 26) 56th Annual Grammy Awards 2014, Miley Cyrus, who has become almost synonymous with glamorous award ceremonies and unforgettable raunchy performances over the year, was noticeably missing at the star-studded event -- her reason for absence: to play Guitar Hero at home.
The "Adore You" singer posted a sad-looking selfie lying on a bed with her white Guitar Hero controller via Twitter and Instagram. "Photo from my performance this evening...." she sarcastically wrote the following caption, just as the award show was ending.
The pixie-haired blonde also shared a video of herself rocking out to KISS's 1975 classic, "Rock and Roll All Nite."
Hours earlier, Cyrus let her followers know that she planned to take it easy that day. "Gonna do some serious cleaning/organizing today. My favorite way to spend a day off! #obsessivecompulsivedisorder," she tweeted. "Probably gonna listen to @skyferreira all day while I clean #emo."
Despite the successful release of her fourth studio album Bangerz and No. 1 hit singles "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball," Miley Cyrus did not make the Grammy eligibility cut-off and failed to receive recognitions in any of the relevant single categories. Consequently, she chose to stay at home playing a videogame, while Beyoncé took over twerking onstage and her partner-in-crime, Robin Thicke, performed with Chicago.
Lena Dunham certainly missed the 21-year-old pop star, tweeting, "Missing Miley and that's no joke," while Judd Apatow responded, "I didn't miss her. Chicago filled her shorts very well."
However, Miley Cyrus did have a slight taste of Grammys on Saturday night when she performed at Clive Davis's annual pre-Grammy gala, which took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She sang "Get It Right," before covering a Dolly Parton original.
"I hope y'all feel better than y'all look," she told the audience. "Maybe this song is better for this crowd," she said before belting out her godmother's hit "Jolene," released in 1973.
