‘Scream’ Spoilers Season 1 Episode 3: Emma Gets Trapped in a Dangerous Game [Watch]
The freshman season of MTV's new breakout summer hit "Scream" has been playing up the dramatic suspense lately. Episode 3, which is titled "Wanna Play a Game?" will air on the cable network MTV on July 14 at 9 p.m. EDT, according to TV Guide.
What fans can be sure of is that themes inherent to the original film have been playing major roles in the TV series, such as the episode titles.
In this episode, according to Spoilers Guide, Emma's mother Margaret is keeping secrets from her and she knows this. But this has also caused Emma to be confronted with danger as the killer has made contact and now, a dangerous game will be played out, much like the Ghostface killer did in the opening scene of the 1996 cult-classic.
This all starts at the heels of the previous episode, where Emma and Audrey are feeling the grief of losing someone close to them, according to International Business Times.
Rachel, who was Audrey's lover, had a history of cutting herself. This history of self-harm was played on by the killer in last week's episode when he toyed with her in an emotional way and even left her to die at the end of a rope, which was designed to look like a suicide.
This happened when he tricked her outside and got her fingerprints on a rope that he subsequently wrapped around her neck before pushing her off.
This all leads up to the next episode on Tuesday where Emma has been dragged into the situation, given her mother's past history with the infamous Brandon James murders and the ensuing mystery behind his supposed death.
Deadline reports that "Scream" has debuted to an increased rating of 1.563 million viewers. This is what's a called a "Live + 3" rating, which measures the audience that watched the show during the live broadcast and also the audiences who watched the show in the next three days on a DVR device. These are exceptional numbers for a cable network series and it shows significant room for growth.
