Ariana Grande Apologizes for 'I Hate America' Comments, No Longer Participating at MLB All-Star Game Concert
Ariana Grande is not only apologizing for calling Americans obese and saying she hates America, privately she's telling friends she's totally embarrassed by the entire episode.
TMZ reports Grande insists she was just reacting to the massive donuts that had unexpectedly been placed in front of her and not attempting to make any kind of heartfelt commentary about the obesity problem here in America. Supporters of Grande add she does volunteer work with anti-childhood obesity groups and realizes she shouldn't have made fun of what she knows is a serious issue.
"What the f**k is that?" Grande was overheard saying when the donuts were brought out to her and her rumored new boyfriend at a Southern California donut shop. "I hate Americans. I hate America."
According to TMZ, Grande insists the controversy has nothing to do with her pulling out of a scheduled performance at Major League Baseball's All-Star Concert slated for later this month. Instead, members of her crew contend it's due to her undergoing oral surgery and having a wisdom teeth removed on Monday.
"She's a proud American," said a source. "Especially in light of all the recent progress for equality in our country."
While at the shop, Grande and her rumored new man, backup dancer Ricky Alvarez, also turned heads by openly making out.
The Saturday afternoon incident with the donuts at Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, California apparently came about after the two dared each other to lick powdered or jelly donuts that were sitting on the counter.
Alvarez is the first man Grande has been romantically linked to since her bitter split with rap star former boyfriend Big Sean. The two blamed their conflicting schedules in parting ways after several months of dating.
