Super Bowl Commercials 2014: Bud Light "Don" Features Don Cheadle with a South American Llama
Football fans around the country are gearing up for Super Bowl XLVIII when the Seattle Seahawks will take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Besides the love of the game, many look forward to Super Bowl commercials as they munch on yummy apps, eat wings and drink beer.
Whether you're the perfect consumer or a critic of commercials, there's some Super Bowl commercial teasers that have been released that you might want to check out, including Bud Light "Don," featuring actor/producer Don Cheadle and an actual, adorable llama, who most likely hails from South America. Yes, it's a stretch, but I have to mention the Latin connection!
In the Bud Light commerical, Cheadle, who's known for his roles in Ocean's Eleven, (Twelve and Thirteen), Iron Man (2 and 3), and Hotel Rwanda, is waiting for an elevator with a llama, according to the Bleacher Report. (While the Bleacher Report is unsure if it's really a llama or an alpaca, let's go with a llama, hence the "Donnie Llama" reference.)
"The more confusing part for me is that someone was actually waiting in an elevator and expecting to see Don Cheadle with a llama. This is obviously supposed to be a setup for the real Super Bowl ad, but I want answers," the Bleacher Report said. "We'll just have to wait and see what the 'Donnie Llama' has in store for us, but Bud Light is making sure everyone is #UpForWhatever."
In case you were wondering, llamas could also play for the NFL -- they weigh 250 lbs and their size is relative to a 6-foot man, according to National Geographic. Another stretch, eh? Well, if Hallmark has a Kitten Bowl, why not have a Llama Bowl?
"The llama is a South American relative of the camel, though the llama does not have a hump. These sturdy creatures are domestic animals used by the peoples of the Andes Mountains. (Their wild relatives are guanacos and vicuñas). Native peoples have used llamas as pack animals for centuries. Typically, they are saddled with loads of 50 to 75 pounds. Under such weight they can cover up to 20 miles in a single day. Pack trains of llamas, which can include several hundred animals, move large amounts of goods over even the very rough terrain of the Andes."
