'Batman: Arkham Knight' Update, Gameplay, News 2015: Downloadable Content Gives Players Access to Batgirl, Less Tank Scenes [Watch]
New downloadable content (DLC) for "Batman: Arkham Knight" gives players the ability to play as Batgirl in events that occurred before the original game "Batman: Arkham Asylum," TechRadar reports.
"A Matter of Family" DLC takes place before Batgirl was confined to a wheelchair by Joker. This is when she was protecting the streets of Gotham and trying to save her father, Commissioner Jim Gordon.
Barbara Gordon is Batgirl and alongside her romantic partner Robin she is trying to fight off the evil Joker.
Playing as Batgirl gives players access to all of the game's best features, including sneaking, fighting and investigating. Batgirl has all of the same skills as Batman.
"When The Joker kidnaps Commissioner Gordon and holds him hostage at the Seagate Amusement Park, Batgirl and Robin must fight against the odds to save him and avoid falling victim to The Joker's sinister plan," reads the official synopsis, according to IGN. "Trained by Batman, Batgirl's combat combines with unparalleled hacking abilities to take down enemies, control objects and solve puzzles."
Players have complained about "Batman: Arkham Knight" for involving too much of the Batmobile. They rate the game very highly, but say that the Batmobile is hard to control and there are too many forced tank combat scenes.
In this DLC pack that includes Batgirl, it does not look like the Batmobile will be involved. She will not be driving the vehicle and most of the story that involves Batgirl will be focused on a single location, similar to "Batman: Arkham Asylum."
The DLC pack gives players access to more battling of Joker, just like in the original Batman game. Joker will be joined by his evil girlfriend Harley Quinn. The DLC pack looks great in the trailer, but players want to know how much gameplay they will get with this DLC.
Season pass owners will get quicker access to the DLC, first being able to play "A Matter of Family" starting July 15. It can be purchased separately for $6.99 starting on July 22.
