It appears that Showtime is wasting no time getting the word out about the fifth season of its highly acclaimed series "Homeland" on the premium cable network. That is of course due in part to the critical reception and audience demand, according to Deadline.

Following the troublesome events of Season 4, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) has removed herself from the intelligence community and retreats into self-imposed exile. This leads her to Berlin and while in Germany, she works for a private security firm. Her assignment is a German philanthropist and that makes her a high-profile target at some point.

Filming for Season 5 took place in Germany and the series is expected to debut this fall, likely in September, but no specific date has been announced yet.

The premise for the trailer was somewhat revealing for the season, but also somewhat vague. As she has always been throughout the series, she was seen at odds with her own mentor, Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).

"You're being naive and stupid," Saul told Carrie in the trailer, which is something that he has said before -- just in different words.

"I'm not atoning. I'm just trying to do good work," Carrie replied to her mentor, who always seems to be a part of her life whether it is in private, in the intelligence community or in the private business sector.

Her dialogue is somewhat revealing because, in Season 4, she ordered a drone strike that killed over 40 civilians at a wedding close to her target.

Fans of the series can expect some returning characters as well as some new faces in the cast, which includes Rupert Friend, F. Murray Abraham, Sebastian Koch, Miranda Otto, Alexander Fehling and Sarah Sokolovic.

Seasons 1 and 2, which both were mainly focused on the character of Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), played off the themes that he was both a terrorist and a savior. The role swapped back and forth several times before his demise in Season 3.
