The Los Angeles Police Department plans to scour the Internet accounts of a man believed to have previously posted threatening messages about Rihanna after the hip-hop star was recently hit with a gun threat on social media.

According to TMZ, investigators plan to comb through the records of someone going by the name of Alex Mercer and Ralph Alexander over Twitter and Yahoo. Someone under that name posted a selfie of a man standing outside the singer's one-time home on April 30.

The next day, the same person tweeted the terrifying post, "Should of killed @rihanna a minute back I would be good right now. Sorcery is a weapon I use guns, bout to get a gun license, can't use my hands."

By the time police arrived at the "Diamonds" singer's home the man was long gone, and now officers are hoping to be able to track him down through his electronic fingerprints.

Late last year, a homeless man in New York was also arrested on charges of stalking the hip-hop star. The New York Daily News reported the man delivered four handwritten notes to the singer's Manhattan home calling her profanities and threatening to "bum rush" her residence.

Identified as 53-year-old Kevin Mcglynn, the man was also accused of sending at least four letters to her California home. Police were able to track him after he dropped his benefits card in her SoHo building during his third visit to the property.

The man later charged in court he was angry because Rihanna, Jay Z and Kanye West had all stolen "material." Following his arrest, he was held without bail after being found to have a long rap sheet for trespassing-related offenses.
