'The Originals' Actress Claire Holt is Engaged
"The Originals" actress Claire Holt is engaged!
The star posted an Instagram photo with the word "Yes" and a diamond ring emoji on Monday sharing the wonderful news.
She and her new fiancé Matt Kaplan posed in the picture with big smiles on their faces.
Holt took a break from CW's "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff to focus on her private life, Us Weekly notes.
"I made a life choice, not a career choice," she said at the time. The 27-year-old decided to spend more time with family and loved ones. It is unclear of how long of a break she had planned to take.
Yet, Holt has returned to "The Originals" set in Atlanta and New Orleans for a few episodes since her major announcement to quit back in March, according to People.
Based on the new engagement announcement, she probably wanted to develop a closer relationship with Kaplan. The star has been dating him for a long time while trying to keep her personal life private. Once in a while, she posts photos of them together to social media.
Holt is an Australian actress who has landed roles on TV and on the big screen, according to her biography. She appeared in the Network Ten children's TV series "H20: Just Add Water" as Emma Gilbert. The show received a Logie Award and a Nickelodeon Australia Kids' Choice Award.
The actress then signed on to the 2009 film "Messengers 2: The Scarecrow" starring alongside Norman Reedus and Heather Stephens. She returned to TV in 2011 earning a role in CW's hit series "The Vampire Diaries" as Rebekah Mikaelson. She later joined the spinoff in 2013 reprising her role.
Holt has also appeared in advertisements for Dreamworld, Sizzler and Queensland Lifesaving.
Back in 2011, Holt was named one of BuddyTV's top 100 Sexiest Women.
