Colin Trevorrow may be directing the final installment of the new "Star Wars" trilogy.

The rumor was first released by Heroic Hollywood, which said the news would be confirmed at the Comic-Con. The rumor was first released by Heroic Hollywood, which said the news would be confirmed at the Comic-Con. However, there has yet to be any confirmation on whether the director, who took on "Jurassic World" and "Safety Not Guaranteed," will in fact finish off the sequel trilogy.

Trevorrow is an interesting choice given he just directed the box office hit "Jurassic World" and has only directed one other film, "Safety Not Guaranteed." Steven Spielberg chose Trevorrow for "Jurassic World" and given his ties to Kathleen Kennedy and J.J Abrams it would seem like a good choice for the upcoming film.

Trevorrow is not expected to director the next "Jurassic Park" film as he himself noted that "'Jurassic Park' is like 'Star Wars.' Different directors can give a different taste to each movie. ... I would be involved in some way, but not as director."

Of course Universal, the company in charge of "Jurassic World," might want the helmer back for one more film. "Jurassic World" has been a huge hit at the box office, grossing close to $600 million as of this writing.

"Episode VII" is slated to be released in December and that movie started shooting back in May and finished in November. However, post-production is still taking place, which makes the process of making a Star Wars film over a year.

Disney has planned to make a Star Wars film every year and has already hired some of the most promising directors in the industry.

Rian Johnson is scheduled to direct the next episode, which is slated for 2017 in May. Meanwhile, Episode IX is slated for 2019, so Disney still has enough time to find a director.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens on Dec. 18 and is expected to star Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.
