iOS 8.4 Jailbreak Update: iOS 8.4.1 Could Ruin Latest Jailbreak
It did not take long for the jailbreak community to release an iOS 8.4 jailbreak solution. Shortly after iOS 8.4 was released, a jailbreak for it was created, but it could soon be threatened, according to Gizmodo.
Apple is already working on iOS 8.4.1. The beta is out and the final version will soon follow it. With iOS 8.4.1 Apple could patch out the jailbreak created for iOS 8.4 and quickly end the enjoyment of the jailbreak community.
The beta for iOS 8.4.1 was released just two weeks after iOS 8.4 came out. iOS 8.4 addressed some bugs and made some improvements to the operating system's performance, but it also introduced the new streaming service Apple Music to iOS users for the first time.
Apple will make improvements and bug fixes in iOS 8.4.1, the last expected operating system before iOS 9. It is unknown which fixes will make it to iOS 8.4.1, but Apple could wind up releasing a security patch that would patch the iOS 8.4 jailbreak. This patch might not appear in the beta version of iOS 8.4.1, but it could make it to the final version. The company has released security patches in the past that made jailbreaks no longer useful and they could do the same thing to the iOS 8.4 jailbreak.
Apple prefers that users do not modify their devices, calling it a security risk. When Apple sees that their software has been exploited by jailbreakers, they typically address the issue and patch them up.
If Apple decides to ignore the iOS 8.4 jailbreak, it likely means that they are focusing on iOS 9. iOS 9 will come out this fall, likely alongside a new, updated iPhone.
When Apple releases iOS 8.4.1, jailbreakers will no longer be able to update their devices to the latest operating system and have it be a jailbroken device.
The iOS 8.4 jailbreak can still be performed on iOS devices. There is a Windows tool and now there is a Mac tool to help users jailbreak their device, according to Gotta Be Mobile.
