Both promotional companies of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Miguel Cotto are meeting and ironing out the matters in the much-awaited fight this fall.

Golden Boy Promotions and Roc Nation Sports, who market the fights of the Mexican boxer and Puerto Rican fighter, respectively, appear to be nearing an agreement for the bout.

Boxing Scene noted that both promoters seem to be aiming at a November match under Pay-Per-View arrangement with HBO. The bout could take place at the MGM Grand or the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

It just makes sense that the clash between World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion, Cotto, and Canelo, the warrior who only lost once to the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr., should be held in Las Vegas, which will be a neutral ground for both fighters.

Earlier reports claimed that Cotto favors New York, while Canelo wants it to take place in Texas, for each of the warrior's main consideration is his strong fan base.

Although details are not officially released yet, boxing insiders stated that the "finalized agreement could be announced as early as next week," and Eric Gomez, Vice President of Golden Boy gave updates about their negotiations on ESPN Deportes.

"There are still some details that need to be fixed. We've been negotiating, we're missing some details. It's important to establish [the date and venue] - but not only that, there are other details. We have a meeting with them [on Thursday], with the Cotto people and with Roc Nation," Gomez said, as quoted by Boxing Scene.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Peñagarícano, Cotto's legal adviser, denied that the bout is officially happening on Nov. 21 as details are still being talked about. He, however, confirmed on El Vocero that the match will take place in November, as reported by another article of Boxing Scene.

"Everything is still very good and positive. We are 90 percent there. We are still not clear if it will be on that date (November 21), but will know quite possibly this month. The important thing is that everything has gone well and I understand that soon there will be an agreement finalized. And yes, from what I understand the fight will be in November. This is a big fight in which there are many details and aspects in the agreement," said Peñagarícano.

The legal adviser also told ESPN Deportes that there's a "logical" chance that the undefeated featherweight boxer, Jayson "La Maravilla" Velez, will be showcased on the undercard of the Cotto-Canelo bout as Velez is connected and promoted by both companies. However, the two parties have not even tackled that issue down.

It is understandable that both camps are ironing out the details of the highly-anticipated event, especially since there's an announced possibility of having a special belt at stake for the victor. Moreover, the fight will also be observed not just by millions of fans, but the WBC mandatory challenger himself, Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, who is set to collide with whoever is the winner between the two.
