Moov Now: A Fitness Tracker with Built-in Coaching for Workouts
Most fitness trackers keep track of users' steps, calories burned and distance traveled. The Moov Now is a fitness tracker that offers real-time coaching to help users with their workouts, CNET reports.
The Moov Now is designed to help novice users with little knowledge of exercise and gym activities get into shape.
The first Moov device sold well right from the start with over a million dollars worth of pre-order sales. The device continues its sales success on websites like Amazon.
The Moov Now is a more stylish device than the original Moov. It's a fitness tracker, but it is not the same as trackers offered from Fitbit and Jawbone. Instead of counting steps, distance and calories burned throughout an entire day, the original Moov was meant to be worn only during workouts. The Moov Now can be worn all day, but it still will not offer the same capabilities and tracking of the Fitbit or Jawbone.
When paired with its mobile app and a pair of headphones, the Moov Now is capable of providing real-time coaching for workouts like running, cycling, swimming and boxing.
The Moov Now is 44 percent smaller than the original Moov. The battery life has also been improved from the original. Instead of using a rechargeable battery, the Moov Now uses a coin battery. The coin battery gives the Moov Now up to 100 hours of workout battery life, or up to six months. When the battery dies, the Moov Now requires a brand new coin battery, similar to traditional watches.
Wearing the Moov Now all-day will provide the user with their levels of activity and active time, but it will not count steps. During sleep, the Moov Now will automatically track the quality of a user's sleep.
There are already five apps that the Moov Now will work with. These apps are meant for cycling, running and walking, swimming, boxing and one for a seven-minute workout. These apps will eventually be merged into one app.
The Moov Now works by pairing the device with a smartphone and headphones. The user will be coached through the headphones or right from the device. When running, a user might be reminded to land lighter on their feet or lengthen their strides.
The Moov Now is available on the company's website for pre-order. For a limited time, a single Moov Now can be purchased for $59 or two for $100. When it comes out this fall, it will retail for $100.
