Designer Carolina Herrera and Photographer Mario Testino Celebrate Fashion and Family in New Campaign
When it came time to find someone to shoot her family oriented fashion campaign, the Venezuelan-born designer, Carolina Herrera, hired iconic Peruvian photographer Mario Testino.
The latest campaign features Victoria Secret model Lily Aldridge and Spanish model Blanca Padilla in elegant gowns and outfits from Herrera's various clothing labels. The campaign also features a few male models wearing looks from her menswear lines.
Besides clothing the campaign features accessories, like handbags and eye-wear. This is the first time the brand blends its various product lines in one single campaign.
The images for the campaign each embody various aspects of family life, such as couples, a family adoring an infant and a playful interaction with a child.
For Herrera, the campaign is personal because her fashion empire includes contributions from her two daughters, who work for her. Testino explained that he not only relates to the Latin designer, but understands the message behind her campaign, reported Town & Country.
"Doing the Carolina Herrera campaign is really exciting for me in this time in my life -- it's a world I know very well," said Testino. "It's a South American world coming to America bringing its culture, tradition, values and sense of family and chic. It's how South Americans like to be dressed and present themselves, but the ethos really belongs to Carolina Herrera herself."
Herrera explained in an interview with Women's Wear Daily, why she thought Testino to be the best choice to help her execute the campaign. "He has an inimitable eye and a shared sensibility," said the designer.
The 76-year-old, who began her career in 1981, is known for her influence in elegant attire and for dressing some of the United States most influential and stylish First Ladies, including Michelle Obama and Jacqueline Onassis.
