In an ironic twist of fate, the show that is based on the real life exploits of a forensic anthropologist is going to be doing a crossover event with a show about a fictional headless horseman and its weary 18th century protagonist.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Bones" will be doing a crossover with "Sleepy Hollow" this upcoming season in what has been billed as a special event.

This "fact meets fiction" event on the broadcast network Fox will be held in two episodes, one on each show. The episodes will feature the characters of one show going to the other and vice versa.

Can you imagine what it would be like for someone like Temperance Brennan working with the likes of Ichabod Crane? One can only imagine that Brenna will be poking holes in his logic with the whole time travel thing. Or even her curious endeavor to disprove that the horror of the headless monster even exists, let alone has followed Crane into the future.

The initial plan was to kick this event off in the early fall season. But there were logistical issues that arose and now the event has been pushed further back into the TV season at an unspecified time.

The details of how the crossover event will occur and what the storylines will be that lead to the convergence have yet to be released. But you can just about imagine the plethora of possibilities that could occur.

This event also makes for an easy sell, given that the shows will be airing this fall on Thursdays, back-to-back.

Both shows have been slated to return for the fall season on Oct. 1.

E! News reports that "Twilight" alum Nikki Reed has joined the cast of "Sleepy Hollow." The role has not yet been defined in great detail yet, but she has been announced to take on the role of a "sexy historical figure."
