‘The X-Files’ Debuts Trailer and Announces Release Date [WATCH]
The Truth... is back once again on Fox. "The X-Files" reboot has been filming episodes already and now, the Fox series has released its first trailer for the highly anticipated return, according to Entertainment Weekly.
What's new and what's old you might ask? Well, there three things that are back for sure and those are Fox Mulder (David Duchovney), Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Skinner (Mitch Pileggi).
The trailer is a short and vague piece, but it does feature 15 seconds of die-hard fan teaser material that will give any of the original fans a surge of pride.
Although the original show put its biggest focus on alien encounters and frequently used the tag line "The Truth is Out There," it also delved into the more mythical creatures and monsters that have long plagued American pop culture. Episodes that featured demonic presences, werewolves or other monsters were a common theme for the show.
But the flagship premise for the show has always been alien encounters, one of which Mulder was personally a victim of. He had also devoted his life to the search for answers that would lead him to the truth about alien activity on Earth. This stemmed from the abduction of his sister during their childhood.
Mulder, Scully and Skinner were all agents at the FBI who investigated these strange occurrences, or the X-Files, as the series suggests.
Series creator Chris Carter is also back with the show to put it on display for audiences everywhere starting Jan. 24. This means that it will air directly after the NFC Championship Game, which always has a big draw with ratings.
There hasn't been any word yet on what storylines will be revisited from the original series that aired throughout the '90s. But fans can expect there to be some continuations.
See the new trailer below to get your early "fix" for the returning series.
