"Teen Mom 2" star Jenelle Evans and longtime boyfriend Nathan Griffith are now engaged.

After an often bumpy relationship, which has seen at least two domestic violence arrests between them, Griffith popped the question as the two vacationed in St. Thomas without their kids during a recent episode.

The surprise couldn't have come at a more inspirational time for Jenelle who, according to Us Magazine, was beginning to show signs of becoming just a bit depressed over her mother Barbra Evans not allowing her to visit son Jace before the two departed on their excursion.

Jenelle's mood dramatically picked up after Nathan's brother and best pal from the Marines arrived and Nathan got the nerve to put his plan into action before an entire restaurant audience.

After answering yes, Jenelle playfully jabbed him, "I didn't think you were ever going to do it. I love you!"

Evans, 23, was arrested in early May on domestic violence charges that were dropped about a month later when a then-estranged Griffith declined to press charges against her. At the time, the couple indicated they planned to work things out for the sake of the child they share. Evans is also reported to be intent on focusing on her career as a nurse.

TMZ has also reported Evans has now been arrested on heroin possession charges, driving without a license and for infamously beating another girl on a front lawn in a brawl that was captured on video and posted on-line. In addition, she has faced charges for attacking her husband, stalking, harassment, breaking and entering and violating a restraining order.

"Teen Mom 2" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. It also stars onetime teen moms Kailyn Lowry, Leah Messer and Chelsea Houska.
