Ronda Rousey Next Fight: 'Rowdy' Talks About Possible Showdown With Cris Cyborg Justino
Ultimate Fighting Championship women's bantamweight champion Ronda "Rowdy" Rousey talked about the possibility of going up against fellow mixed martial arts superstar Cris "Cyborg" Justino.
Rousey, who has been dominating inside the UFC Octagon, does not expect to face Justino anytime to soon. But when they eventually cross path -- probably in her last fight -- Rousey envisions a dominating win.
And when the belt is handed to him by UFC president Dana White, Rousey said she will return it, signaling the end of her illustrious career inside the Octagon.
"I have this idea in my mind that my final fight would be just beating the crap out of Cris Cyborg and then when Dana puts the belt on me the last time, I can take it off and hand it back to him," Rousey said via MMA Fighting.
Rousey has been linked to a fight against Cyborg over the past several years, but the fight has not even come close to fruition because both fighters want the fight to happen on their own terms.
Rousey has been campaigning at the 135-pound division, while Justino is the 145-pound Invicta FC champion. Cyborg previously said she is willing to go down to 135, but has recently indicated that she wants a catchweight of 140 pounds against Rousey.
Rousey said that she is willing to face Cyborg anytime, but she will not be chasing the Invicta FC champion. She also took a swipe at Cyborg's history of being caught using banned substances.
"I hope so," Rousey said when asked if she wants the fight to happen. "I really do. But it's entirely up to her. I'm not gonna go chasing her around. She's not entitled to have me chase her around. She's the fraud that got defamed. And if you can make 145 pumped full of steroids, you can get off of it and drop."
'Rowdy' also insisted that Cyborg needs the fight more than her. Rousey said that even if the fight does not happen, she feels there are still quality opponents available for her remaining fights.
"Everyone who says 'you're running out of opponents,' you better hope I don't run out. Because then I'll be done," said Rousey, who needed just 30 seconds in her last two wins against Alexa Davis and Cat Zingano.
Rousey, who holds a perfect 11-0 record, will defend her UFC women's bantamweight title against Bethe Correia at UFC 190 on Aug. 1 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
