Apple Watch More Popular Than Original iPhone, iPad, Survey Finds
The Apple Watch is making customers happy, according to a survey released by Techpinions. Specifically, users that are traditionally not connected to the tech industry are really enjoying their experience with the new smartwatch, Mac Rumors reports.
Overall customer satisfaction with the Apple Watch is 97 percent, with 66 percent of those surveyed saying that they are "highly satisfied," according to research firm Wristly and Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin. This is the highest customer satisfaction rating for any first generation Apple product, including the iPhone.
The survey was based on a survey panel of over 1,000 Apple Watch buyers. Apple Watch buyers were asked pre-qualifying questions to make sure they fit into the survey. Of those surveyed, Wristly found that 34 percent were "tech insiders" and 53 percent were "non-tech" users.
"I observed a pattern. Those whose job it was to think about the Apple Watch or who were early adopters who thought deeply about tech and the tech products they buy, were all much more critical of the watch," Bajarin explained. "You could tell they evaluated it and thought about it deeply from every angle by their responses. Then I talked with teachers, firefighters, insurance agents, and those not in the tech industry and not hardcore techies. These groups of people couldn't stop raving about the Apple Watch and how much they loved the product."
Wristly found that the survey panel was highly diversified. There were users that were extremely excited for the Apple Watch to come out, and there were users who purchased it because they thought it would be useful to them.
The Apple Watch's satisfaction rating was higher than the original iPhone and iPad. The original iPhone scored a 92 percent satisfaction rating, while the original iPad scored a 91 satisfaction rating.
Apple has not yet released any official Apple Watch sales figures. When they do release these figures they will put them under the "other products" category in the quarterly earnings report. When the company releases its third quarter fiscal results Tuesday, global estimates range from 2.8 million to 5.7 million devices sold.
According to Fortune, it is impressive that such a high number of respondents said they were satisfied with the Apple Watch. This is because of some poor publicity and negative reviews on the device.
