Don't get me wrong, the Xbox One is a powerful console that touts lifelike graphics and a killer ecosystem, but it simply doesn't stack up to the bulldozing PS4. The Xbox One simply tries to do too much. It's a DVR, a Blu-ray player, a game console, an online marketplace, and the list goes on. It ridiculously uses three operating systems, as if one or two bloated OS's from Microsoft isn't enough. It also looks like a VCR and has a huge external power brick.

Despite its gigantic size and menacing looks, it can't play many games in Full HD (1920 by 1080p) at 60 fps. Yet the diminutive PS4 (with an integrated power supply unit) can without breaking a sweat. In order to address the graphical shortcomings of the Xbox One, Microsoft will be releasing a graphics patch. Currently, 10 percent of the GPU is dedicated to the Kinect Motion Sensor. The patch will scale back the Kinect's GPU usage to two percent. If a game you play doesn't utilize the Kinect than that extra GPU juice is wasted.

According to Xbitlabs, the Xbox One GPU has 33 percent less computational power than the PS4. How does this effect gameplay? Take for instance the fact that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition runs at a silky smooth 60 fps. The Xbox One version only manages 30 fps. Now, 30 fps is great for motion video, but for gaming it isn't optimal. The lesser the fps rate, the more jumpy a game's animations will appear. For casual gamers this performance drop may not be an issue, but for a $500 device you should get a lot of bang for your buck.

When Forbes questioned Microsoft about the graphics discrepancy, they got back a typical corporate answer:

"At Xbox, we are always thinking of what's next for our platform and looking for new ways to innovate. We believe Kinect is an integral part of the Xbox One platform and its use of voice and gesture lead to unrivaled ease of use, premium experiences and interactivity for consumers. Beyond that, we have no further comment."

Whatever that means...
