Samsung is thinning down its latest tablets and making them lighter as well. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will be framed in metal and also offered in two screen sizes, CNET reports.

Samsung is calling the latest Galaxy Tab S2 series as "the thinnest and lightest tablet of its size ever." The South Korean company decided to get rid of the big 10.5-inch screen that was offered in the original Tab S, and is focusing on a 8-inch and 9.7-inch model for the Tab S2.

A new tablet has been anticipated from Samsung for months. Rumors started leaking in May, and most of the rumors came true with the upcoming August release of the Galaxy Tab S2.

Both models of the Tab S2 will include similar specifications despite having different screen sizes.

The Tab S2 will come pre-installed with Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop. The tablets will be powered by an octa-core processor running one quad-core at 1.9 GHz and a second quad-core at 1.3 GHz. 

Even though there is two screen sizes, both versions of the Galaxy Tab S2 will have the same screen resolution of 2,048 x 1,563 pixels on a Super AMOLED display.

The Tab S2 will feature a fingerprint sensor. The sensor could be built right into the tablet's home button.

Tablets are not known for having powerful cameras, but the Tab S2's rear-facing camera is a respectable 8 megapixels (MP). The front-facing camera, which can be used for video chats and self photographs is 2.1 MP. 

For productivity, the Tab S2 will come preloaded with Microsoft Solutions. Users will also have the option of having up to 100 GB of cloud storage through OneDrive.

Multitasking on the Tab S2 should be fairly smooth with 3 GB of RAM. Buyers can pick between 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage, but it is expandable up to 128 GB with a microSD card. Another choice that buyers will have to make is whether they want an LTE or WiFi-only connected tablet.

The Tab 2 will be available globally in August, but the price is not yet known.
