Microsoft Lumia 950, 950 XL Rumors, Specs: Metal Bodies, USB-C and Windows 10
Windows phones have lagged far behind Apple's iOS devices and Google's Android devices. Now, Microsoft wants the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL to get noticed, according to Tech Radar.
The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are the next flagship phones coming from Microsoft. The two new phones will likely be the first phones to use the brand new Windows 10 operating system.
Besides using Windows 10, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are packed with the latest smartphone features, according to leaks from ITHome (in Chinese).
The Lumia 950 will have a 5.2-inch 2K resolution screen, a six-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB of RAM and a 3,000 mAh removable battery.
The larger Lumia 950 XL will have a 5.7-inch 2K resolution screen, an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB of RAM and a 3,300 mAh removable battery.
Both Lumia 950 phones will be equipped with 32 GB of internal storage. The storage can be increased by using microSD cards.
The rear-facing cameras on both Lumia 950 phones will be 20 megapixels (MP). The front-facing cameras will be 5 MP.
The brand new USB-C port will be used by both Lumia 950 phones. USB-C charging is said to be faster than charging offered by older ports.
Going away from their colorful plastic-metal bodies, the Lumia 950 will use slimline full metal bodies.
These premium specs on the Lumia 950 shows that Microsoft is shifting back to a premium smartphone and going away from the budget devices they offered in the past.
The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are likely set to be released in October or November. The two new phones are packed with premium features and might sway Android and Apple users over to Windows 10 phones.
The last Lumia devices were the Lumia 930 series. Microsoft apparently decided to skip over the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL names and go to the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, according to Pocket Lint.
Microsoft has not confirmed the rumored specs or that the two new phones would be coming out, but it does make sense that they would want to update their phones to Windows 10.
