Microsoft has introduced a new in-mail chat app for iPhones. It will start working Wednesday for iPhones and will be coming "soon" for Android and Windows Phones, according to CNET.

Users that have either Outlook or Office 365 school/business email accounts will be able to use the app called Send. As time goes on, Send should become available to more users, Microsoft executives said.

Microsoft currently offers the Outlook app for iOS devices, which is a rebranded version of the Acompli email application they released at the end of last year. The Send app is designed to be used alongside of the Outlook app, not to replace it.

According to information found on the Send page, the app requires iOS 8.0 or newer and is optimized for the iPhone 5, 6 and 6 Plus, but it can be used on iPad and iPod Touch as well.

The Send app came from Microsoft's tech incubator Garage. Garage is a team that helps create consumer apps for mobile devices. 

"While tools like text messaging and IM are great for short messages, you often don't have your co-worker's cell phone number or an IM app on your work phone. And we've heard loud and clear from people at work, they want all their communications available in Outlook -- even if they send them from other apps. This is where Send comes in! Send gives you the simple, quick text message-like experience while allowing you to reach all co-workers and have all of your communications in Outlook for reference later. Send lets you quickly and easily send any co-worker a message without a subject line or formal email constructs," the description from Microsoft reads.

The Verge calls Send an extremely simple and useful app for conducting chats with co-workers and people that users frequently interact with on Outlook.
