Drake Collaborator Quentin Miller: 6 Things You Need to Know
Meek Mill launched a Twitter attack on Drake Wednesday claiming the Toronto rapper does not write his own lyrics, following the 2015 MTV VMA nominations announcement on Tuesday.
Rapper OG Maco entered Mill's Twitter discussion, tweeting pictures of the writer credits from recent Drake songs that list the name Quentin Miller.
Meek later tweeted Miller's name as the man who pens Drake's lyrics.
The question on everyone's mind is, Who is Quentin Miller? And is he truly Drake's ghostwriter?
Here are six things you need to know:
1. Miller is from Georgia. Steven Dingle, CEO of Atlanta-based management and marketing firm The Gloriam Group, told BET on Wednesday that Miller is from East Atlanta and attended Georgia State University. "Atlanta is a small circuit. You know, everybody knows each other. So, we been rocking with Mac and Quentin." Mac, also known as CoolIsMac, is in the WDNG Crshrs rap group with Miller.
2. Miller creates his own music as a solo artist, with WDNG Crshrs and collaborating with other recording artists, like Drake. Check out his solo efforts, like the recently released "03 Cinematic," and the WDNG Crshrs new video that Complex premiered two months ago.
3. The rapper was first noticed on the writing credits for five of Drake's "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" tracks. Drizzy's thank you note on the album references "QM." Ghostwriters are usually just that, invisible. Being credited, can Miller be considered a ghostwriter? Or is he simply a collaborator?
4. Miller has worked as a ghostwriter, according to Dingle who said in a tweet on Wednesday, "Did it ever occur to yall that QM wrote on MORE than the songs he got writer credits for? Making him a ghostwriter." Has Miller written as a ghostwriter for other rappers? If so, who?
5. OG Maco has referred to Miller as a close friend. There is a rumor that Maco and Miller will soon release a track together.
6. Miller is closely connected to the OVO crew and is often photographed with video skit star Ryan Silverstein. The photo below, taken on Jan. 1, shows him pictured with OVO members. He is standing next to Drake in the black sweatshirt and knit cap.
