Perry's followers can purchase her latest fragrance directly from Twitter by using Twitter's Buy Now card. Her fragrance, "Mad Potion," which she announced in June, is being sold by Coty Inc., a beauty product manufacturer.
The vice president of global marketing at Coty Inc., Emily Bond, spoke to Women's Wear Daily about their partnership with the star.
"In working with Katy, we wanted to try something completely different for the launch of her latest fragrance," said Bond. "Given her immense popularity on Twitter, we thought it would be the ideal channel to create a pop-up shop that will let her fans not only interact with her but also purchase the fragrance directly."
Perry spoke to PopSugar about the making of the fragrance and the scents that she loves most.
"I like to have the aphrodisiac of vanilla and the androgyny of musk mixed together," said Perry. "And vanilla is what I have been wearing since I was a kid, so I definitely wanted to put it in one of my fragrances, and finally it's here!"
The singer, who has six other perfumes besides "Mad Potion," explained that she loves making fragrances because sense of smell is important and creates memories.
"You can get into an elevator and be with someone wearing a fragrance you used to wear when you were a teenager, or an ex-boyfriend [wore], and then suddenly you're transported into that time mentally," she said. "So, hopefully, I am making fragrances that are giving people lasting memories that will transport them."
If you don't follow Perry on Twitter or even have a Twitter account, the fragrance will still be available to purchase at a variety of select retailers like Kohl's.
