Barely three months since Chris Pratt's "Jurassic World" became a huge success, talks of the sequel have already begun. Reports have confirmed that the second part of the dinosaur thriller film is already set for a 2018 release.

Universal Pictures, which released the film, made the announcement on Thursday, wrote The Hollywood Reporter.

Actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who both headlined the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise, will return to reprise their roles in the sequel. Pratt portrayed the role of Owen Grady, a dinosaur trainer in charge of taming the four Velociraptors of the new theme park while Howard played Claire Dearing, the park's operations manager and love interest of Pratt.

The "Parks and Recreation" actor previously confirmed that he has signed a deal for more films in the dinosaur franchise.

"They have me for, I think, 38 movies or something," joked the star to Entertainment Weekly.

Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first film, will return with Derek Connolly to write the screenplay for the second movie. The filmmaker has already announced that he will not be back in the directorial chair for the sequel.

In an interview with Trevorrow last June, he said that he will be back in the second film in another capacity.

'''Jurassic Park' is like 'Star Wars.' Different directors can give a different taste to each movie," the director told Entertainment Weekly. "I would be involved in some way, but not as a director."

Aside from co-writing the script, Trevorrow will also join Steven Spielberg as executive producers of the movie. Spielberg directed the first two films in the franchise but switched to an executive producer role with the third and fourth films.

No plot has been announced for the upcoming film. But many speculate that the story will follow the timeline of the last film. With the appearance of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, which happens to be on the loose in the last film, some believe that the iconic dinosaur will once again appear in the movie.

"Jurassic World" has finally toppled "Marvel's The Avengers" as the third highest-grossing film of all time, noted Variety. It raked in $1.52 billion ticket sales around the world, except Japan.

The movie will open in the Asian country on August 5.

It now trails behind "Avatar" and the "Titanic" in the list of top-grossing movies that debuted globally.

"Jurassic World 2" will open in theaters on June 22, 2018.
