ABC 'The View' Cast Members, Changes: Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris Reportedly in Talks to Become New Hosts
New reports indicate major changes will be made to the host lineup at ABC's "The View" next season.
According to Variety, "Full House" alum Candace Cameron Bure and "Good Morning America" anchor Paula Faris are currently negotiating deals to join the hit daytime talk show series.
If deals are reached, the two women would replace outgoing hosts Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez, reports The New York Daily News. They would also join original host Whoopi Goldberg and newcomers Raven Symone and comedian Michelle Collins at the "Hot Topics" panel for Season 19.
Bure, who is an outspoken Christian, could potentially fill the void of the conservative voice left by Elisabeth Hasselbeck when she began working for the Fox News Channel.
One of Bure's most memorable moments on the series occurred earlier this month when she and Symone bumped heads over the issue of religious freedom and LGBT rights. Bure defended an Oregon bakery that was fined $135,000 after refusing to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.
"I don't think this is discrimination at all. This is about freedom of association," said the "Full House" actress, according to US Weekly. "It's about constitutional rights. It's about First Amendment rights. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with."
In response, Symone quipped, "I refuse to associate with you right now!"
Bure would also have to work out schedule conflicts that may occur while she's taping "The View" in New York and recording for her new Netflix series, "Fuller House," which shoots through November in L.A.
Faris, on the other hand, would keep her GMA Weekend job and make appearances on "The View" Monday through Thursday.
There is no word on whether Bure and Faris would be cast as regulars on the show or occasional contributors.
ABC News also announced on Thursday that seven-time Emmy winner Sarah de la O will direct "The View" when the talk show returns in September, making her the first female director in the show's eight-year history.
