NBA 2K14 has sold about as well as the next-gen consoles that gamers have played it on since the tail end of 2013.

It was reported this week that the popular basketball game surpassed the 5 million mark in copies sold, marking yet another milestone.

It is rare to see sports games maintain such a popular presence among the top available games on the market. NBA 2K14 has proven to be the best basketball game we have ever seen and its Guinness World Records, sales numbers, reviews, and more are a testament to the success it has had.

The game has continued to make adjustments in the face of adversity; several patches have been rolled out for gamers and each one has addressed a number of key issues plaguing users.

The recent sales numbers for 2K14 were reported by Take Two, which describes the other key games that have found success along with NBA 2K14.

"Our results were driven by robust holiday demand for Grand Theft Auto V, the franchise record-breaking launch of NBA 2K14, the successful release of WWE 2K14, and strong growth in digitally-delivered revenues led by Grand Theft Auto Online," the website indicated.

Of course, the success of Grand Theft Auto 5 has been well-documented and publicized since it is the first game to be released in the series since the early days of the previous generation. WWE, on the other hand, may have been quite a bit more surprising to see on that list for many gamers.
