'Mafia 3' Revealed, Trailer Coming Out Next Week
It has been five years since fans of the action-adventure video game from 2K Games came out with the second iteration in the "Mafia" series. The wait is finally over as the video game publisher has recently announced that "Mafia 3" is arriving soon.
The announcement was made via the video game publisher's official U.K. Twitter account.
"We're revealing #Mafia3 next week! See the announcement trailer on 5/8/15 at 1PM BST," the tweet reads.
No other details were given except for the date of the first official trailer for the upcoming game. It is expected that more information about the highly anticipated game will be seen in the video reveal.
The timing couldn't be more perfect as next week will see the start of the annual Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany. The event is held yearly and is often the venue for new video games and tech news announcements.
Based from the teaser photo on the game's official website, it seems that the third iteration of the title was made by another developer. The Hangar 13 logo could be seen in the image, beside the 2K logo.
Haden Blackman is currently the head of Hangar 13, noted Game Spot. He has worked with LucasArts in the 1990s and 2000s and has had experience in handling different "Star Wars" games during his stint with the company.
It remains to be seen if he applied his experience with the "Star Wars" title to make "Mafia 3" a game that will make the players even more interested.
It must be noted that 2K Czech made "Mafia 2" for 2K Games. However, the company closed down in 2014, as it underwent a huge restructuring, reported Polygon.
As early as January this year, whispers about the third iteration have been ongoing ever since Rick Pasqualone, who lent his voice to game character Vito Scaletta, hinted that good news is arriving soon.
"@OfficialAidenP might have some exciting news very soon," posted the voice actor on his Twitter account in response to a fan query.
2K 's upcoming video game, as the company described, will have a "rich narrative storytelling."
"Mafia III is the next installment in the popular series known for immersing players into a world of organized crime through rich narrative storytelling and a beautifully crafted game world featuring period-accurate cars, music and fashion," the game publisher said in a statement.
The announcement trailer will debut on August 5, 2015.
