‘The Walking Dead’ News: New Characters Debut on Season 6, Foreshadowing Death of Main Character
When the news of Ethan Embry ("Grace and Frankie") and Merritt Wever ("Nurse Jackie") joining the cast of "The Walking Dead" dropped at Comic Con this year, no one really knew much more than that. The two young actors were just added to the cast, but their roles were not specified, according to Entertainment Weekly.
There could have been good reason for not adding their character roles that early on, but now, EW has learned who they will be playing, and for fans of the comic series, that could be a huge spoiler.
Although this article will not mention why that's a spoiler, suffice it to say, if the TV series follows the comics closely, then some major deaths will be in store for Season 6.
Wever may be best know for her Emmy-winning role on "Nurse Jackie," playing a nurse beside Edie Falco. That might be a good thing for the good-natured actress, because she has now moved up in the world and will be joining the cast in Alexandria as a Dr. Denise Cloyd, of which the characters were in desperate need.
The bad thing is her character foreshadows the fates of a few others who fans have come to love on the series. Of course her expertise saves the lives of other cherished characters.
Embry has joined the cast as Carter, and he will fill a role that several characters from the Comic filled, which the TV series has not yet picked up on.
"Ethan plays a combo of a few characters that we actually haven't hit yet or weren't able to hit in other characters," showrunner Scott Gimple said. "He is an Alexandrian, and has been there the whole time, just quite busy."
Heath will be played by Corey Hawkins ("Straight Outta Compton") and is basically a supply runner for Alexandria.
"[Hawkins is] terrific, and I'm so excited to see him bring Heath to life," Gimple said.
