'Rise of The Tomb Raider' Could Compete Well With 'Fallout 4' Game, Says Developer
A sneak peek of the upcoming "Rise of the Tomb Raider" was shown at the Microsoft press conference in E3. The game showcased exciting gameplays and features that can give other upcoming titles a run for their money, including "Fallout 4."
The two highly anticipated titles are coming out on the same day in November. This has raised some concerns that the title from Crystal Games might not enjoy the same acclaim as expected for the Bethesda-developed game.
But Game Director Brian Horton is not worried. According to him, the game can hold on its own and can even compete with the popular post-apocalyptic game.
"We're big fans of Fallout, it's such a great game," Horton told Gaming Bolt. "But we believe we offer something completely different from a gaming experience point of view. We feel good about the date and the quality of the game will speak for itself."
The developers are banking on the success of the previous "Tomb Raider" titles when they created the game. Horton revealed that the people working on it have created a "seamless experience" that will see players move from one mission and adventure to another.
The continuous flow in the title will be most evident when players do not die or quit from the game, said the director.
To add to that numerous missions, it was also revealed that the upcoming game will have a large environment for players to enjoy.
"Besides Lara's story which is really exciting, we're really thrilled to talk about the new scale that we have for the Rise of the Tomb Raider. Our exploration spaces are three times larger than they were in the last game and our tombs are much bigger," said Horton.
He added that a new "Nested Puzzle Approach" mission has been added in the gameplay so that players must first solve numerous smaller puzzles to answer a bigger one.
With a bigger environment to explore, Lara has been given "traversal mechanics" that will see her able to swim underwater and climb trees.
The "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will see the main character in the ancient city of Kitze in Siberia to solve mysteries and find the answer to gaining immortal life, noted Cinema Blend.
Horton said that the new title from Crystal Games will be a hit to all fans of the series, whether it's for the "legendary first era of Crystal Dynamics of the reboot."
The game will be released on November 10 first to the Xbox One and Xbox 360. A PS4, PS3 and PC version will come out at a later time in 2016. No exact date has been announced for this yet.
