Aaron Hernandez Murder Case News Update: Jury Whistleblower Wrote Explicit Letters to Former NFL Star?
The female tipster, who claims a juror in the Aaron Hernandez murder case misled the court to ensure being selected to the panel deciding his fate, once penned sexually explicit letters to the former NFL star.
ESPN reports those shocking allegations were disclosed by prosecutor William McCauley, who also maintains that attempts by lawyers for the now jailed, onetime New England Patriots tight end to question the woman under oath amount to an "unwarranted fishing expedition."
Hernandez's attorney James Sultan has previously insisted that the woman anonymously called him several times after Hernandez was convicted earlier this year in the June 2013 execution-style killing of former associate Odin Lloyd. Hernandez has since been sentenced to life with the possibility of parole.
Sultan has repeatedly claimed the tipster told him she worked with the juror and claimed the juror knew of the 2012 Boston double-murder. Hernandez has been charged with allegedly opening fire and these allegations were barred from the Lloyd trial.
In that case, Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado were both gunned down at a red light outside a nightclub, after prosecutors allege one of them spilled a drink on Hernandez inside the club and failed to apologize.
Though he has acknowledged that the woman had "extensive" contact with his client, Sultan told the court there is reason to believe she may have relevant information about what he considers to be a wayward juror.
In response, McCauley alleges that the woman wrote Hernandez sexually explicit letters before and during the trial and, believing in his innocence, wanted to continue their relationship after he was released. Reportedly, Hernandez has now destroyed all of the letters.
McCauley further claims that the woman's father served time with Hernandez and that she does not work with the juror as she has insisted. The prosecutor also argues Sultan has failed to provide information about the tipster and some of the things he alleges the woman told him are untrue.
The 25-year-old Hernandez has a young daughter with Shayanna Jenkins, the older sister of Lloyd's partner at the time of his death. Throughout Lloyd's trial, Jenkins attended wearing a diamond engagement ring from Hernandez, but the status of their current relationship is unclear.
