Boxing legend Shane Mosley believes middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin will only need three rounds to knockout David Lemieux in their upcoming showdown in October.

The former champion and boxing trainer believes it will be an easy match for the undefeated Kazakh warrior, who has won by knockout in 31 of his 33 victories. Mosley predicted that 'Triple G' could stop the Canadian boxer in round two or three.

"I really think Triple G is going to cut down the ring. He [Golovkin] knows this is his opportunity to be on top, and to be the superstar everyone wants him to be. I think Lemieux might not even go a couple of rounds, maybe 2 or 3 rounds maybe," Mosley told thaboxingvoice, as quoted by BoxingNews24.

Lemieux, who also commands a great force in the ring with an 86 percent KO rating, is said to be Golovkin's perfect match this time.

Oscar De La Hoya stated that the highly-anticipated fight will be "dangerous" for both boxers because of the skills they commonly share like their knockout power, good chin and good physical condition, Boxing Scene reported. Thus, the Golden Boy Promotions president, who promotes Lemieux, predicted that whoever connects to the chin first will emerge victorious.

However, Mosley believes there is still a chance Lemieux will be able to score an upset against Golovkin, especially if he could penetrate and "land big shots" against the mighty Kazakh.

Still, too much is at stake in this unification bout on Oct. 17 at the Madison Square Garden in New York, not just for the International Boxing Federation champion, but more for Triple G. Golovkin currently holds the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization belts.

Aside from that, Mosley also believes this fight will test Triple G's popularity, with respect to how he could command pay-per-view audience for HBO. Having a low return will make him be staged in regular HBO, Mosley said.

While Mosley is quite sure Golovkin is the overwhelming favorite in his next fight, the veteran boxer said that it will be a different story, when the knockout artist collides with either Miguel Cotto or Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The winner of the proposed November fight between Alvarez and Cotto will have to defend the WBC middleweight title against Golovkin, the mandatory challenger.

"I think the next fight [for Golovkin against the Cotto-Canelo winner] is going to be the good fight," Mosley said.
