Bryan Cranston’s ‘Sneaky Pete’ TV Series Releases Trailer [Watch]
"Sneaky Pete" by "Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston has released its first full-length trailer for the series. According to Deadline, the path to production for this Amazon series has been a long and hard road.
The show first started over on CBS, but once they passed on it, Amazon quickly picked it up. The series will debut on Amazon Prime on Aug. 7, and from the looks of the trailer, it is going to be some classic Cranston-style drama with a little comedy thrown in the mix.
Pete (Giovanni Ribisi) is actually Marius, who is an ex-con that shared a cell with the real Pete. Now that he is out, he has decided to take over Pete's life in the real world to escape his own past as a con man who owes money to the character that will be played by Bryan Cranston. And $100,000 is a lot of money to owe a man like Cranston's character, if "Breaking Bad" fans have anything to say about it.
But now Marius, who has adopted the identity of Pete, is in hiding and shows up at Pete's grandparents' home, who have not seen in him for over 20 years. He gets roped into the family business, ironically a bail bonds business, and needless to say, his new identity will get shady at times.
Although Cranston will only be a guest star on the series, he will be the brains behind the camera as a producer for the show.
What is unique about the series is that it takes on a gritty feel, much like "Breaking Bad," but finds unique ways to insert humor into it.
Ribisi does an excellent job of blending the two together and he makes the show a little more engaging by comically downplaying scenarios that could get him busted as an identity thief.
