New Rolls-Royce 'Wraith' Takes Inspiration From Rock & Roll Music
Rolls-Royce has always been synonymous to tradition, old money and men in stuffy suits. So it is quite a contradiction to see the popular luxury car manufacturer take inspiration from something that embodies the opposite such as music, which is often equated to youth, noise and modernity.
But such is the case with the new Rolls Royce Wraith "Inspired by Music." The third special edition Wraith "Inspired By" collection takes cue from music legends such as Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Keith Moon, who were all owners of the luxury car brand at one time.
According to the luxury carmaker's press release, the decision to create an "Inspired By Music" edition comes from the company's "love affair" with Rock & Roll music.
Since Wraith was introduced in 2013, owners can customize their vehicles with "bespoke audio" for their enjoyment. Now with the "Inspired By Music" edition, this "exhaustively designed" audio system takes center stage to give owners that perfect listening experience in their own "music venue" inside the luxury coupe.
It took two years for the engineers at Rolls-Royce to develop the audio system, which delivers sound through a 1300W, 18-channel system. The Wraith "Inspired By Music" comes outfitted with two powerful bass speakers, seven mid range speakers and seven tweeters.
To achieve an "ear-level sound," the interior is also outfitted at the headliner with two "exciter" speakers while microphones inside and outside the coupe maintain an ambient audio.
While the sound system is perhaps the key feature in the coupe, the exterior is as sleek and elegant as well. The whole body is colored in Lyrical Copper paint with brushed and polished copper trimmings found in the interior.
Autoblog noted a "book-matched copper dashboard" to match the copper door inserts, speaker grilles and others. The luxurious feel did not end there as the company decided it's only fitting to attach woven leather floor mats inside the vehicle to match a bezel clock that is designed to look like a vintage vinyl record.
The Rolls-Royce Wraith "Inspired By Music" is not all beauty and aesthetics. The coupe has 624-horsepower to accompany its 6.6-liter twin turbo V12 engine. So owners get the best of all worlds with looks, speed and power.
The latest "Inspired By Music" completes the trio of its Bespoke Collection of Wraith. The company first introduced the "Inspired By Fashion" earlier this year followed by the "Inspired By Film" design.
The base design for the Rolls-Royce Wraith can fetch more than $360,000, noted Engadget.
