Season 11 of "Criminal Minds" will start off with a bang when the CBS series returns in September.

Zap2It confirmed that the new season will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. ET. In the episode, the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) team will track down a serial killer on the hunt for revenge. Actress Aisha Tyler will also be introduced to viewers in a recurring role as Dr. Tara Lewis.

"The 11th season begins with the BAU interviewing different candidates to join their ranks in the wake of Kate's departure, including a forensic psychologist, Dr. Tara Lewis, who is eager to assist their efforts. Also, the BAU hunts for a serial killer who leaves behind distinctive evidence that points to someone intent on revenge," reads the episode description, according to Zap2It.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner will determine that Dr. Lewis is the best candidate to join their team.

It has also been revealed that series star Joe Mantegna will direct another episode in the long-running CBS drama. Mantegna, who plays David Rossi, shared on Twitter behind-the-scene photos that were taken while he was directing his upcoming episode.

Former Dallas Cowboys football star and current broadcaster Michael Irvin is featured in one of the pictures.

Mantegna's upcoming episode is titled "'Til Death Do Us Part" and will be featured as the third episode of Season 11. It marks the third installment that he directed in the series.

Furthermore, "24" star Marisol Nichols tweeted that she will be featured in the new season of "Criminal Minds."

"Excited to work on @CrimMinds_CBS :) Here we go," she tweeted on July 20, along with a photo that said "Criminal Minds Behavioral Analysis Unit Quantico FBI."

Season 11 of "Criminal Minds" will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
