2015 People En Español Festival: Gloria and Emilio Estefan to Headline
The stars will be out in full force to celebrate Hispanic Heritage in October.
The names of some of this year's performers and special guests have been announced for the 2015 People En Español Festival.
People En Español announced that headlining this year's two-day event will be power couple Gloria and Emilio Estefan. The festival will also include a performance by Cuban rapper Pitbull. Other celebrities confirmed to attend the anticipated event, so far, include Maite Perroni, Angelica Vale and "Orange Is the New Black" actress Dascha Polanco.
According to Billboard, the theme at this year's festival is "Your Voice, Your Power, Your Festival." The Estefans will host a panel that will coincide with the launch of their musical "On Your Feet," a musical about the lives and music of the legendary Latino couple.
The event, which will be hosted at the Jacob Javits Center in New York, will feature performances, meet and greets, panel discussions and more.
"Last year we celebrated millennials, this year, Latino leaders and their influence," said People En Español publisher Monique Manso.
Last year's event included a performance from teen pop sensations Becky G, who opened for Disney actress and singer Zendaya Coleman.
While the festival was hosted in San Antonio, Texas for its first three years, according to Manso, it will benefit from the large diverse population of Latinos in the tri-state area.
"We are excited that People En Español has picked New York City for the first time to host the festival, full of stars, to celebrate the talent and diversity of musicians, actors, producers and the Hispanic community," said Commissioner Cynthia Lopez of the Mayor's Office for Media and Entertainment.
The festival will be held on October 17 and 18 and is free to the public. Check out the magazine's website for more information on announced celebrity appearances.
