The ever-expanding hype for the companion series "Fear the Walking Dead" just reached a new milestone with the release of the synopses for the first two episodes of the series, according to Den of Geek.

Make no mistake, these two vague descriptions may not reveal much, but for devoted "The Walking Dead" fans, they will no doubt be very enlightening. Those who have followed the news on this show have already learned so far that the Walker apocalypse started in Los Angeles and worked its way across the country.

The fall of society is sort a slow burn style of horror, which essentially shows the viewer that there is a shark in the water and the water is murky at best. But the shark has been pulling in victims and there have been few survivors.

The story is a prequel to "The Walking Dead" and takes place (loosely) during the 2-month period that Rick Grimes was in a coma.

The episode synopses, as listed by Den of Geek, read as follows:

Episode 1 - Pilot

A highly dysfunctional blended family is forced together when they realize a reported virus is actually the onset of the undead apocalypse.

Episode 2 - Close, Yet So Far

While Madison struggles to keep Nick from crippling withdrawal, Travis ventures out to find his son before the city of Los Angeles falls.

The hype and interest that has been drawn in for this upcoming series has inspired the network AMC to go ahead and put an order in for season 2, which will be more weighted with 15 episodes. The first season will only feature six episodes, much like "The Walking Dead" did in its first season.

Fans can also expect the zombies to be referred to as "The Infected," as opposed to "Walkers."

The society, or universe, that these people live in for "TWD" and "FTWD" has purportedly never been exposed to the zombie genre, which leads them to form their own conclusions and discover for themselves how to kill them.

"Fear the Walking Dead" premieres on AMC on Aug. 23.
